Can I tell you a secret......
Let me tell you a secret...
So let’s begin…and I’m going to be honest here because I feel we all need a fair dose of it, especially in today’s ‘Show-and-tell-society’.
The headshot images you see here on my website- where I look fairly ‘cool, calm and relaxed… and composed?!’ Well, I’m not at all!
I took these headshots myself. I was using a BROOM in order to ‘set the focus’ (the broom stood in as ‘me’) and ‘auto-time’ to take the headshots myself!
Which meant- beep, beep, beep goes the camera auto-time (all of 10 measly seconds), as I scramble to my position on the sofa, softly (but oh so gently- so as not to make an AWFUL mess with the tea cup, which I'II have to clean up!!) and…grab my cup…and…assume position!
How much our life is like this- a mad scramble, a ‘fake it till you make it?’. Well, I’m here to tell you that we’re all in the same boat. And that’s ok.
Even the most successful on the outside are often scrambling on the inside (I know this because some of my most successful friends are beautifully open and honest. Thank you girls).
What I’ve learnt is that it’s all about accepting ‘the chaos’, even reveling in it.
This is life. Life is not about waiting for things to be perfect, for things to be ‘in control’, for the laundry to all be folded…(because let’s face it, there’s ALWAYS more laundry!).
Even though you may not feel ready, may not feel ‘thin enough’, ‘neat enough’, your home may not be ‘beautiful enough’ (for whom we ask? We’ll get into this later), life is passing us by!
We need to get over our perfectionism (damn it’s hard!) and get on with the living! Embrace the beautiful chaos that is life- and reassess our ‘enoughs’.
Set the ‘broom’, scramble to position…and hit ‘GO!!!’
